Week of April 3rd-Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals narrowly missed a sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays, losing the third game 11-7 despite winning the second game 6-5 in extra innings. They also took a three-game series over the New York Mets, losing the first game 4-2, but winning the second and third games 3-0 and 2–1.
The St. Louis Blues thrashed the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 but lost to the San Jose Sharks 5-4 and the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in overtime.
Manchester City’s women’s team beat Manchester United 3-0 in a rivalry match. The men’s team hasn’t played in the past two weeks due to the international break.
Barcelona’s women’s team beat Real Madrid twice, 3-0 and 6-0, advancing to the Women’s Champions League semifinals. The men’s team hasn’t played either due to the international break.
Let’s discuss Team USA’s recent international break. They lost two friendly matches against Belgium and Portugal, 5-2 and 2-0, respectively. This is unacceptable given the World Cup is only 70 days away. Mauricio Pochettino needs to improve his coaching. He should have replaced Matt Turner with a younger, better goalkeeper named Matt Freeze. This mistake cost us both matches. To make the country proud, the US needs to do better. As one of the host countries with the most cities, they’ll likely play most of the tournament at home. I want them to advance and avoid crashing out of the group stage like they did in the Copa América in 2024.
The Kansas City Current has lost their last three games, including a 2-1 loss to Chicago, a 3-0 defeat to Seattle, and a 2-0 loss to Portland. This isn’t the Kansas City Current I’m used to. I want to see them improve.
